Asthma, Diabetic and Heart Disease Clinics

asthma_inhaler_5 We have specially trained practice nurses who regularly review all asthmatic, diabetic and heart disease patients. Telephone 680169.

Health Checks

All patients aged sixteen to seventy-five who have not attended the surgery within three years or patients aged seventy-five and over who have not attended within twelve months are welcome to attend for a general consultation and will be offered appropriate health checks.

Contraceptive

Services Our Practice Nurses and Doctors provide contraceptive services. If you require emergency contraception please ask for Zoe when ringing 01244 680169.

Practice Nurses

The Practice Nurses may be consulted for the following: Dressings, removal of stitches, ear syringing, baby immunisations, travel vaccination and advice, and health promotion clinics. Flu injections are available during the winter months, particularly for people who are asthmatic or diabetic, or have chest or heart problems, or who are aged over 65 years. Annual health checks are also offered to all patients aged over 75 years. Please telephone 680169 if you wish to make an appointment to see a Practice Nurse.

Minor Surgery Services

Minor Surgery is performed on a Thursday. If you think you may need minor surgery please ask to see Dr. Thompson or Dr. O’Dell.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.

* Exact fee will be advised on submission of medical report for completion. Please be aware that we require written consent in order to release information from your medical records to a third party.

If you require a medical letter of support for one of the following reasons; to allow gym activity, for housing, for travel or for an organised activity, if your doctor knows your medical history you do not need to make an appointment. Simply provide us with written details of your request on a form which is available from reception. Please allow three working days before collecting your letter and be aware that you will be charge £17.00 on collection.

For all other Non NHS Services please leave the approprite paperwork at the reception desk. A member of our administration team will contact you within 5 working days to inform you of the exact fee payable and the time it will take to process your request. If you are required to attend the surgery for a medical examination your appointment will be booked by the admin team at a time convenient to the patient and the practice.
