The doctors and staff at Handbridge Medical Centre in Chester are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

Please be aware that a certain number of Doctors appointments are available to pre-book up to two weeks in advance. See appointments section for more details.

The surgery will be shut between 12.30 - 5.00pm for training purposes on Tuesday 19th June 2012. We are closed for Bank Holidays on the following dates;

 Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th June and Monday 27th August 2012

 

Please see "out of hours" section if you need to contact a doctor or nurse as an emergency over these periods.

Following the results of our recent patient survey our Patient Participation Group has suggested that we provide patients with a reminder of some ‘Do and Don’ts’ to help improve access for all our patients.

 

PLEASE DO

·         Ring before 10am for a consultation on the same day

·         Ring before 10am for a Home Visit for housebound patients

·         Ring in between 11am – 6.30pm to pre-book an appointment up to 2 weeks in advance

·         Ring in between 2.30 – 6.30pm for a test result

·         Ring in at anytime to cancel an appointment that you are not able to keep

·         Tell the receptionist that you require a ‘double’ appointment if you feel your problem needs more time with the doctor or nurse

·         Provide the receptionist with some information about your problem as they will be able to offer you the most appropriate appointment

·         Ask for the Medicines Manager if you have a query regarding your medication

 

PLEASE DON’T

·         Request a repeat prescription over the telephone

·         Ring in to ask if your prescription is ready

·         Ring in for test results before 2.30pm

·         Ring in later than 10am for a consultation on the day unless it is a problem that cannot wait until the next day

·         Book an appointment ‘just in case’

 

An Extended Hours Clinic runs 6.30am-8pm weekdays and Saturdays 10am – 12 Noon, routine appointments can be booked by calling 01244 385422. The Out of Hours Service operates overnight and at weekends on 01244 385300.
